president obama step downs four years from now, and president obama's popularity is now the highest it has been since the first few months he was in office. today's poll numbers are a reflection of the president's inauguration speech when he spoke boldly of progressive values in the country. i'm joined tonight by joy reid, managing editor of the grio. i mean, if she were to run, if she were to announce, wouldn't there be just this groundswell enthusiasm because we know she is so qualified? >> well, i think partly because of her clear and obvious qualifications, but also, hillary land has a pent-up desire for this woman that has never gone away there was tremendous resentment between obama and hillary camps in 2008 partly because her supporters are so passionate about the idea that she should be our first woman president. it was very hard for them to walk away from that. there was a big push to get her on the ticket, to be vice president. they were disappointed that didn't happen. she then takes the job of secretary of state and really acquitted herself well. i think her approval ratings mi

in lines for hours to make sure that president obama would get elected and would go down the road of a progressive agenda? what about all the ground troops who went door to door? the get out the vote effort that worked really hard to re-elect this president. this was a romney vote. that's what this was tonight. they didn't do it to face the same obstruction from republicans. all those workers out there. that's not why they did it. harry reid is leth the minority party run the country. he's giving the republicans all the ammunition they need to block president obama's second-term agenda. and you know what? he's going to regret it. so what does this mean? this means that activist groups are the only ones that can save the country when it comes to legislation because the activist groups are going to have to go out and get in these districts and in these states where senators are who are not doing the right thing and primary them. and let them know that they're not going to win the next election. do the unions of this country deserve what just happened tonight after as hard as they wo

bureaucratic red tape coming down the pike, and i think we need to be a little bit concerned about this. now, the righties out there are saying well, obama care, it's just too much government intervention. what about this? listen to the real folks calling a talk show, talking about what they're living with. first of all, you got to fix the visa backlog. okay? how do you do that? you get people engaged to do it and you start making phone calls and calling them. in maybe you can use the dmv. i mean, this is one of the big problems right here, the backlog. what that gentleman was talking about off the radio show. and a time frame. can we make it reasonable? do we want to tell these folks hey, you got to wait another 12 or 13 years. what? some of these folks have been here more than ten years. can't we get them on the fast track? how much loyalty do they have to show? what the republicans are afraid of is that they'll vote for the democrats so, we got to slow this baby down a little bit. the other thing is paying fines and back taxes. all right. let's take, for instance, that there is someone ou
